The Ioannina basin, the ancient Ellopia, with its lake Pamvotida occupies the central segment of the prefecture. The Arachtos, Aoos, Voidomatis, Kalamas, Louros and Acherondas rivers, as well as many torrents flow through almost the entire Prefecture of Ioannina.
